In a career defined by movement across Cairo and Paris, New York and beyond, Egyptian artist Youssef Nabil, honoured as the Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters (Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres), has long occupied a space between worlds. His images, hand-painted photographs that blur cinema and memory, reality and reverie, have become synonymous with a deeply personal exploration of identity. As he prepares for the opening of his landmark exhibition at the Musée d’Orsay in Paris, his lifelong search between past and present, dreams and achievements, arrives at a moment of rare clarity.
