Vian Sora's multi-venue mid-career survey,Vian Sora: Outerworlds, travels from Santa Barbara Museum of Art, CA, to Speed Art Museum, KY, and Asia Society Texas, TX, USA.
Marking Sora’s first solo museum exhibition in the United States, Outerworlds brings together approximately twenty of Sora’s major works, tracing the evolution of her practice over seven transformative years (2016–2023).
Her visceral, multilayered paintings abstractly channel the turbulence of personal and political histories—drawing from her lived experiences in Iraq, ancient Mesopotamian heritage, and the country’s complex natural landscapes of deserts, rivers, and archaeological sites.
