Sophia Al-Maria is part of 'if we could just talk in person,' a two-person exhibition with Lydia Ourahmane at Basement Roma, curated by CURA.
The third collaborative exhibition by Al-Maria and Ourahmane, 'if we could just talk in person' grows out of a friendship that began in Delphi in 2019 and has been sustained across continents ever since, largely through voice notes. Framed as an on-again, off-again correspondence, the show asks how love and closeness survive distance, and what the voice can carry that a letter cannot.
The exhibition is on view through until 27 November 2026.
